The Stress Factor

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

I’m wondering just what the stress factor has to do with glucose numbers. There must be a way I can “test” stressful times against times when I am more relaxed. Trouble is, I am one of the many whose job has been affected by the current economy. So my stress level seems to be consistently high! Glucose readings are higher…not out of sight but higher.  My blood pressure is up as well.

Seems like I should be able to control the stress since I am aware of it, right? Doesn’t work that way, at least as far as I can tell.  I’m trying to exercise more. Any readers care to comment?

Flummoxed!

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

I’m not having good numbers since my trip north. This evening, my glucose reads 140. Hmmmmm……and I had steak and broccoli for dinner. I am “flummoxed” over this! (Means I don’t know what’s going on!) There are several issues I’d best address. Food and drink among them.

I have a surgery scheduled for my eyes tomorrow, and that means, I won’t be seeing to drive or use the computer again for a few days. I’ll be back in touch asap.

Thank goodness for books on CD!!

Same Old, Same Old

Guess I should be glad some things never change. My glucose levels are down and I feel great. What bothers me is that my weight hasn’t changed more than 1 or 2 pounds! How can this be??? Is this still an insulin issue??I know that exercise is SOOO beneficial…and I do exercise. I need to do more. Why can’t I seem to commit to more exercise? It has to become a priority.

Got A Question

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

I check my glucose level religiously, sometimes 5 times a day, but at least 3. Why is it when I get up later in the morning, my numbers are higher? Not in the HIGH range, but maybe 115 to 125. This morning (at 8:00 am) was 122, but nothing changed in my routine last night. I had a huge salad for dinner, the only carbs, with turkey chunks and cheese for protein. I generally test so much lower in the morning if I get up at 5:30 or 6:00 am  (90 to 100), which is the time I usually get up. Any words of wisdom?
